Random Tuesday Rant
The guy that lives accross the street from me is a registered sex offender. I thought I had moved out to the burbs and was willing to deal with the country folk (I live in a small town just outside of Houston). He moved in about 5 months after us.
I saw the sale price on that house and have NO IDEA how this man affords that house. Not saying that I live in lap of luxury by any means, but he is an ex-con that lays tile floors and not sure what the mom does besides getting child support. Their household consists of:
1 ex con dad age 32 (i know cause i looked him up on the database)
1 mom - age - dunno, hope older than him cause of age of her children.
1 18 year old girl (not the con's kid), pregnant and her 6 year old son
1 16 year old girl (not the con's kid), just had a baby
1 15 year old boy (not the con's kid) who has become my SD15's new BFF
1 14 year old girl...not sure who her daddy is
Twin Boys around 9 - con's kids
1 boy around age 7 - con's kid

15yo boy and my 15 yo SD are big buds now, he gave her a bunch of his t-shirts he has outgrown. I rememer being a teenage girl, when a boy gives you his clothes and you sleep in his tshirts...well.... Anything he likes she likes. She's not allowed to go in their house, but they hang out in the driveway together all the time. My only relief is that the boy has a girlfriend who is usually around as well...not that it will stop him, but MAYBE it will stop SD.
This week he told her about Jay Zs new album and so that's all she is talking about. If I hear about friggin' JayZ one more time, someone is going to get hurt. The other night i told her she needed to watch the VMAs in the other room because we didn't want to watch that, she said we were gay for missing Jay Zs performance.

Unfortunately all you can do is keep a close eye on SD, forbidding her to see the kid will only make her want to be around him even more.

I missed Jay-Z's performance too. How will I tell my DH I'm now playing for the "other team"? Of course, he missed it too, so we might not have a problem...;)

Thats a Jerry Springer show all under one roof.. no offense of course. I think you made a good decision by not letting SD inside the house.
I am also very surprised that all those 'kids' are allowed to be under his custody. Scary!

How does this guy have 3 kids under 18 that aren't his living with him? Um, can anyone say "Kaycee Lee Dugard"? I do believe that it's against parole rules, if he's on parole.

He is living in a home with children? or is it that type of offense. I shudder, They are probably getting quite a bit of assistance as well with that many young children with kids living there. Uggg sorry.

The story he gave our HOA was that he was 22 and the girl was 14, lied said she was 17, girls dad caught them together and pressed charges. Now, I'm not a legal expert, but he served 3 1/2 years in prison and is still on parole. I don't think you get that kind of sentence for that type of offense, but who knows.
He's such a loser!! has jail house tattoos all over his stomach and back and always mows the lawn shirtless.

Sex offenses
Do you know what the offense was or do you only know that he's an offender? Is he still on parole? How long ago was the offense?
If he's not on parole any longer (you can be a registered sex offender but done with parole) then there's really nothing legally wrong with those kids being around. If they are his skids, there's not much the state can do to keep him away from them if their mother chooses to be with him, unless he commits an offense against one of them.
Different levels of offense carry different levels of punishment. You have to register as a sex offender if you get convicted of statutory rape. But an 18 year old boy can be charged with and convicted of statutory rape with his 15 year old girlfriend.
I'm not trying to make excuses because that sounds like they are rolling Springer-styles and I'm sorry you have to be involved in that because of your SD, I'm just hoping to put your mind at ease some.

I think it's been about 10 years since the offense, not sure when he went to prison, etc... one of the guys i work with is an ex-police officer and he is looking into some of the details for me. The story sounds about as innocent as it can in that situation. I was pretty wild as a teen and definitely lied to some guys about my age. He has never been innappropriate to anyone in our neighborhood that I know of, and he's a pretty friendly neighbor,even came over and knocked on our door one day to tell us that there was a car in our driveway that he did not recognize when we were out of town (it was my brother in law taking care of our dogs). I tend to believe it was not an assault situation just an age situation. I just try to keep it to waving when I pick up my mail
