Why do our DH's expect us to fix things?

This has been a question on my mind since my discussion with FDH earlier today. We do not live together (been together for 5 years) and he wanted me to come over to "fix" the issue with his daughter. I told him that no, HE needed to fix it, not me. FDH of course got hurt and upset by that and started in with the so this is how you are going to deal with this crap? Yes, this is how I'm going to deal with it. I told him that I was sorry but that I was done being put in the middle and getting all of the blame.

That's what I said to FDH. First, let me say, we currently do not live together as another room is being added and I have told FDH, that even after it was finished, until he gets control of his house, I would not be moving in, we were supposed to move in in December. FSD said I wouldn't talk to her on Thanksgiving day or yesterday. That she tried and I wouldn't talk to her. I told FDH really? Because I was sitting there talking with your niece and her boyfriend and she never came over to the table. If you don't believe me, why don't you call your niece and ask her.

After the big fight on Tuesday, I have been doing alot of thinking. Tonight we do not have any kids and are planning to sit down and talk about the things that have happened over the past week or two. Mainly we are going to talk about me & my DD not moving in at the end of December and why.

New Here and need some advice

Hi Everyone. I've been reading for about the last 6 months or so and am so glad to have found a place that I can get advice (and hopefully give some). A little background, I have been with my FDH for almost 5 years, engaged for 1. We currently live in separate houses, but are in the process of adding a bedroom and bathroom at his house and will rent out my house until it sells. I have a DD16 and a DS19 (he lives on his own). FDH has a son17 & a daughter 15 (he has every other week custody). We've had a lot of ups and downs, but we do the best we can.
