Update to Skidville for Christmas, or not?

We all knew this was coming. DH spoke with SD. She's upset with him for "not standing up for her" when she was arguing with everyone about things related to Auntie's passing--cleaning out her house, settling the estate, funeral arrangements. Same old, same old, she's obviously right, everybody else is wrong on a massive scale. Per DH, this is also how BM operates. She goes scorched earth on whomever upsets her then expects other people to fix it. It was one of the marriage destroyers for DH, the default fixer.

So now maybe we can get together for a meal, SD says. DH wants to see the grands but he didn't commit. We pass right through SD town on our way to SS's house and I'd be really surprised if DH decides not to see them. Ok, I can do this for DH within reason. One meal, two hours tops, no overnights in SD town, no gifts in tow, no disruption of visit with my family.

Let's see how DH processes all this. In years past he would have fallen all over himself to appease SD. He's made real progress.
