Pink nail polish

peanut11's picture

So SS6 comes over today wearing pink nail polish. I would never paint my own sons nails pink especially if I knew he was going to school the next day. Kids can be so mean; why is BM setting up SS to get made fun of. He already has enough problems why try to add to them? Am I being too critical? Do other BM paint their sons nails when their going to school the next day.

Hmm. Our BM sent SS to school with red/pink nail polish when he was six. She also allows the boys to wear makeup.

I agree 100%. If I had a little boy who wanted to wear nail polish, I would explain that other kids might tease him for being different, but that there's absolutely nothing wrong with being different and to go for it. If there is teasing and the child doesn't like it, he will stop wearing it.

It's one thing if the boy WANTS to wear it. But totally different if the mother is doing it to piss off the father, or to please her new husband.

No he doesn't WANT to wear it. He was very ashamed when he came home from school with nail polish on, and said that his mother made him wear it and would not remove it before school. This boy is a construction and dirt boy. He's not a boy who is into looking pretty or accessorizing (like my 9 year old boy is... my DS9 loves being a pretty boy, flaunts his girly stuff, and is not ashamed of who he is).

It is very clear he wanted no part of it.

Boys are painting their nails now. Not pink, so much, but other colors. It's not that big a deal. My boys don't, but some of their friends do. My son and stepson are both pretty conservative as far as clothes go. But they have friends that do the emo makeup thing.

It's probably because he's around females most of the time. My brother loved for is to put makeup on him when he was little because we were. He's 36 now and really SUCH a guy that no one would ever doubt his sexuality. Dont worry that this is a prelude to things to cone. It is a actually pretty normal for a kid his age
