Completely ANNOYED with the cell phone!

Not only does the 11SS have a cell phone that annoys the SH*! out of me, but now it is 9:30 at night and BM thinks its appropriate to call him on it and chat like they are dating! It is sick, and it is annoying and I have already told the kid 5 times it is BED TIME!!!! He says okay I am just saying good night to mom....okay then say it and get off the phone!!! I am so over this cell phone!

Arg!!!! These kids with cell phones is a HUGE peeve of mine. It's re-friggin-diculous!! We survived just fine without one when we were thier age!! hell I didn't have one until I was 22!! and it was a 20 lb monster of a phone lol. I say tomarrow night at your prefered appropriate time turn the dang thing off and put it up till the next day she can leave a dang message!! doesnt this kid have school in the morning anyway??

EXACTLY! school tomorrow, and there is just no respect around here! I am not a fan of this phone at all! it was BM idea to get it since niether Dad nor I want to hear her voice when she calls us and I have told him a million times it is OFF by 9! I spoke to his Dad and he said he will handle it but c'mon! The BM has issues! she sent him a text on Sat at 4:30 AM to say I Miss You! I am sooo over it! I mean he is not mature enough not to cry when he gets in trouble, yet he is "cool" and mature enough to handle all this cell phone/ texting bull sh*$ which he uses to talk crap about me to his mom most of the time. SOOO FRUSTRATING! i didn't have my first cell until i was 23! I survived. I am taking it away at 9 tomorrow.

I haven't read the above responses so I might be repeating, but what about taking up the phone at a certain time? The skids have cell phones too that they bring over but it's not allowed to be used as a toy in our house, it's treated just like a house phone. It gets put up on the counter, if it rings you can answer, but if we are in the middle of dinner, the call goes to VM and it can be returned after dinner. The phones get put in our bedroom at 9pm and shut off until the next day.

I agree with Middlemom. I would establish a rule in your house: phones off and given to the adults at 9;00. Your home, your rules.

Wow, what a response.. thank you all so much for these ideas and comments. Again it is only my second day on this site and I can't believe I have gone 8 years without relating to anyone in my life. I feel so relieved to know I am not alone in the world feeling like a horrible person. I know I am a good Mom and I knew my rules were not that far off the mark...so thank you to all of you who have made me feel human again!!! I told my 11SS the phone is off at 9, and if he wants to call BM he calls at 8:45 to say goodnight. I told him if he can't stick to it I am taking it away and he can use the home phone. DH agreed with me, but I had to have the conversation with my 11SS OF COURSE! argh...
