Forced Adoption of a Fur Baby

just.his.wife's picture

We have been forced to adopt a cat.

I walked in from work last night and the biggest tom cat I have ever seen in my life sprinted in between my legs, made it into the house and has made himself at home. Without exaggeration he is easily 12-15 pounds, not fat at all, very muscular, NOT fixed orange and white tabby cat.

The cat will.not.leave.

We tried shooing him back outside. That lasted until one of the kids opened the door to take out the garbage and he was right back inside. When we went to bed last night, he was outside. When we woke up this morning, he was curled up asleep on DH's recliner in the living room. I have a sneaking suspicion that one of the three skids got up and intentionally let him in.

DH put him back outside this morning where apparently he has spent the entire day so far, outside the front door, howeling a very off tune opera about how abused he was due to being left outside.

DH has caved to the fur baby. I am at work and just got a text message from him:

Going to the store for cat food and cat litter box etc. I am NOT changing the box. The kids WILL take care of him or else. PS you need to call the vet mon he needs 2 be fixd b4 he sprays. (I am presuming DH swapped to text talk due to a lack of space.)

I am thinking he needs to be named Oh-nine.

Get it cat-o-nine?

Cause he has DH whipped already!

Lol. I love cats and feel that I will probably end up as one of those crazy cat ladies when I'm old. I expect I'll die due to tripping over one of my many future cats. Oh well, he needs a home. It's nice of yall to take him in.

Great story and you guys have good hearts. Glad to hear a BIG, lonesome furbaby has a new home. Good on ya!

LMAO. I'm sorry, but this is just too funny! Instead of going the regular vet route, call a low cost clinic... and make sure they scan him fr a microchip... the orange tabby that tried to adopt us (same thing, door darted and everything!) ended up having a chip- his family had been missing him for a year! HIs kid was really happy to get him back- she was 5 at the time.

"That thought gives me comfort."

Because your LDH will always have a loyal companion by his side? Would give me comfort, too.

LOL! There was this huge (admittedly GORGEOUS) white cat that used to hang around our house. I told my then bf not to feed it, that it would go away. He and my kids fed it. I then said it wasn't coming in the house. He stared at me with these huge blue eyes so I let him in. I then said no litter box...long story short, we had him for 4 years before he got sick and we had to have him put down. He was an awesome cat.

While we had him, I told my bf I wanted a puppy. He didn't. So we compromised on a kitten for our white cat to have a friend. We got the kitten, and my god she was a hell cat at first. But the white one disciplined her and now she's awesome. She's my baby and I love her to bits. And I don't even like cats. I insist she's a person who just chooses to be a cat!

When I had to get my two dogs spayed I went to friendsofanimals.org. You put in your zip code and find a vet that accepts this certificate. Then you buy the certificate online on this website for a cheap price and thats all you pay for the spay/neuter. I am not sure if they do it for cats but to get my dogs fixed the vet wanted $600 and I paid I think $100 for each of them. It really helped me out and I loved the vet I went to. Sometimes your own vet is even on the list.

I have told all of my friends about it and they did used it to!
