"That's nice."
SD11, upon walking into the house near Valentine's day: Daddy’s going to be MY Valentine not yours. Smug look.
Me: That’s nice
DP11 then runs to DP, declaring: You are my Valentine Daddy! Not Cover1W!
DP: You are ALL my Valentines.
SD11: harrumphing. Comes back over to me.
SD11: Do you give out Valentine’s at work?
Me: No, but usually our boss gives out something nice to people, like a special snack in the morning.
SD11: Oh. WELL, WE get go give out Valentines.
Me: That’s nice.
SD11: huffs off, then comes back a third time (!).
SD11: Have you had dinner yet? (As I am standing at the stove heating up soup).
Me: No, but I am working on it.
SD11: WE went out for PHO tonight. Smirks.
Me: Yes, your dad let me know. That’s nice.
Don’t feed the SD. That’s nice.

He wasn't aware of what was
He wasn't aware of what was taking place between me and SD11 in the kitchen during this conversation. SD11 was going back and forth between us.
And yes, he HAS since then been getting on her case about her attitude.
The thing is sometimes he just doesn't HEAR the tone. I think that some men are tone-deaf to it (my dad was too, but NOT my mom LOL) so I have to explain, once saying, "Your daughter was being an out-and-out bitch tonight. And you know I don't say that lightly. There's a difference between teasing and not quite being mean to out-and-out bitchy-ness and she's fully there now." That brought him short.

You did great. Usually when
You did great. Usually when Skids get annoying I just say Go Away From Me and point to their rooms.
Oh, I am very aware she's
Oh, I am very aware she's getting fully onto horrible-ness and DP is NOT in control. If you aren't aware of my recent travel woes, stay tuned! It gets better.
The one thing I have to say is DP, after the "travel incident," is rapidly becoming aware of the SD issues, especially SD11. We've been doing some reading and lots of talking. "This is going to be really, really hard." Yes, DP, is already is and it's going to get worse if you don't get control (and even so...).
Wow you have so much
Wow you have so much patience. I usually do the, "go take out the trash, clean your room, take a shower," bit with my SD11. She gets to play the cinderella, and I get to enjoy some quiet time... for like 2 minutes.
Good job!! It would've taken
Good job!! It would've taken every bit of strength for me not to bitch slap the attitude out of the little snot.
It felt good to not react at
It felt good to not react at all. She WANTED a reaction so she could go into "Cover1W is horrible!" routine. Nope, not gonna do it.
In fact, just not reacting to her much at all is a wonderful, wonderful thing.
You could have fun with this
You could have fun with this so that she will be sorry she brought it up. Go into a DETAILED history of the origin of Valentines Day ala the History Channel. }:)
WOW. Am I glad CTBB is a boy.
WOW. Am I glad CTBB is a boy. I would never do this, being a good Catholic lady n all, but the comeback my evil brain thought of was, "Oh, YOU'RE Daddy's valentine, not me? Well , let me print off the instructions for a Cosmopolitan blow job so you can give him one , since he's your valentine- he LOVES them!"
BAHAHAHAHA priceless!!!!!!
