Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

I'm glad she "started" with the shampooing. The idea of shampooing after cleaning yourself is gross. All the hair dirt goes over the clean rest of you.
Well done!
And you're right, it's not just skids who can't figure out bathing.

I have a friend who negotiated a points system with his 11 year old son. If he earns X many points he gets rewards, mostly Pokemon stuff, I believe. He is *so* proud that his points system has gotten the kid into the shower twice a week. I mean seriously, he is over the moon about it.
DD almost 11 bathes everyday, thank goodness, but her bathroom is a mess. The tile floor and shower door prevent flooding.

My husband solved the problem with BS not wanting to shower. He told him he could go upstairs and shower on his own and quit arguing with me or he could have a prison shower :). They then u tubed it. For the most part we have no issues.

My DH isn't great about the curtain/curtain liner thing. The worst situation is at our 2nd home. It's an older home and there is only one bathroom. Well, he is almost a foot taller than me, so he tends to angle the showerhead straight at the back wall. So, when I unwittingly turn the water on (oh.. he also doesn't flip it into faucet mode but leaves it in shower mode)... the water sprays hard against the back wall and floods the floor because the curtain can't contain it there. I am always scrambling to fix the shower head or flip the flow. I know I should check every time, but since we aren't there much I forget. I think the DEFAULT setting should be with the faucet and with the shower head pointed into the tub, not at the wall.

I will look into that. At least it's all tile in there.. but I go through a lot of towels mopping up!
