Dh noticed some sarcasm, wow
We were working on dinner. Dh was grilling. I was bringing him a clean plate. Ss12 comes out asking about going to friends house. Dh looks at me, then him and tells him dinner is almost done. Ss kind of huffy is like "i can eat when i come back."
Im thinking im out..lol.
Little detail b4 i go on: ss only has about 3 friends in the neighboorhood, he just found out this friend (ill call him 4) lives close, but he is across a main road. We have two main roads, road A has a ton of crosswalks because its towards the school, road B only has 2 crosswalks and has some nice bends, that people come flying around!! Ss12 is very clumsy, not aware of his surroundings.
So anyway ss finds out 4 lives acrossed B. Omg getting that information out of ss is a nightmare. Dh is trying to understand where ss is going, and ss keeps mumbling 4 lives around friend 3. Dh asks if he is crossing road B. Ss tells him no(because we have lived here going on what 6-7 years and he still does not know the roads he lives near.)
So dh says it sounds like your crossing road B, which is ok, but i want you to text me when you get there.
Ss "im not crossing that road"
So i say "are you going acrossed the road with the double yellow lines?"
Ss very sarcastic " yes...you know cars on one side go this way and one side go that!" And looks at me like im just stupid.
Dh "whoa, no need to be sarcastic at all, she is trying to help you out because you do not know the road you are crossing. You are crossing road B, which is the main road that is not very safe. If you go over there you need to text me when you get there and you need to apologize for being rude."
Ss "sorry, i was just saying yeah it has yellow lines." "Ok i know how to look for cars, thanks for letting me go, bye."
Oh and just so you know friend 4 is not allowed to cross road, mom drops him off at school.
Anyway- dh noticed it this time, but there are still to many moments where dh does not realize it.
I hope he keeps letting ss go where ever, i cant wait to see how his school gets effected by all this "hanging out". And you might think oh first week of school no big deal, but ss is like the "if you give a mouse a cookie" book.
I thought i did ok, it not worth arguing, which i could have very well did. Ss should not have gone in my book, but its not worth it. I had myself a beer with my burger, focused on baby girl and made sure i cleaned everything up from dinner-lol. Have fun getting it all back out and putting it away ss.
Oh- ss has been hanging out
Oh- ss has been hanging out after school which means he comes home between 3:30- 4, then asks to go over someones house after he gets a snack, then is there till 630 or 7pm. He did it all this week. So just adding another kid to the mix. Im glad ss has friends he needs them, but he needs to know mon-thur school comes first. I feel its already out the window!
Yes, we have more kids. Im
Yes, we have more kids.
Im staying far away from hw this year. Im just saying ive noticed dh has not given ss any boundries with going to see his friends. Even for the first week of school. Dh is always lax with ss, then he deals with it when it blows up and becomes a huge problem.
Will dh tighten his grip on ss running around next week? No. He will wait till he sees bad grades then omg, i cant believe your not doing your hw!! How could this happen?!
Its sad i already see it, but as the convo. Above shows i just open my mouth and im met with sarcasm, that i do not deserve...so unless dh is here i wont say a word to ss.
It is far easier to start out
It is far easier to start out strict then loosen up than to start lax and then try to tighten down.
Unfortunately.... far too many parents are clueless.
Feeling your pain. Very
Feeling your pain. Very difficult - but hopeful that Daddy did, indeed, catch his attitude this time. I've got a SS12 and he can be a mouthy little git. My wife does nothing to back me up. Just shouts and spits, then throws things. But I am getting out and have an escape plan.
Rags is sound. Listen to her. She gave me good advice when I needed it - and everything she said would happen, did.
Good luck!
Both my SS's like to give
Both my SS's like to give sarcasm to my questions - they are 22 and 24. I stop contributing to their conversations or direct them to their dad. If I happen to be the sucker and as a question and they start that crap, I just roll my eyes and turn to walk away. And silently hope that they wont be here long.
Good for DH recognizing the sarcasm and calling him out on it!
Lil update-ss has been at the
Lil update-ss has been at the neighbors house(friend3) everyday this week...eating dinner there! Whoop. Better there than here picking at my food!
Its been pleasent!!
Cant wait to see how the next weeks go..lol.
Kind of wondering about friend3s mom though. She does not seem to be bothered by him. If a kid was at my house eating dinner for two straight weeks(well almost 2 weeks she did have a break when he went to kid4s house lol) , id need a break- or wondering why the parents are allowing him to be over so much.
But im enjoying it-so not wondering to much about her!!
