A brief moment of truth
Something I may privately journal about later, but I thought I'd share the meditative thought with you guys.
All joking aside, take an emotional step back for a minute and think about everything you've done, everything you're ashamed of, and everything the people in your life that you're mad at have done and what you think they should be ashamed of, and just kind of try to detach yourself from all of it for a moment.
And ask yourself... "Does everyone deserve to find happiness?"
What do you think?

A Small Victory, but a victory nonetheless
So tonight, SS stalled like a MOFO during dinner again. I finally had to let my toddler down to do her thing. It was not her fault that he was being a little jerk.
Then he wanted to go do what she was doing, and I demanded that he take at least one bite of his chicken empanada, before he left the table.
"Do I have to?"
I told him no, but that if he didn't, he'd go to bed early.
He gets ready to bite and I warn him, "None of your pretending to vomit either kid. You bite, you chew, you swallow OR you go to bed early. Period."

So it begins
So it seems pretty clear that SS figured out how easy it was for him to cry to BM and for her to give him shit. I'm sure he figured it out AGES ago, but now that he knows it works from a distance, he's giving it a go here.
He tells DH that he doesn't get any attention at home, so he wants adults to play with him here.
Given BM's record of being, not only a huge GU, but also flipping the fuck out because she 'just hates seeing him sad,' we obviously called BS, and the whole thing was dropped.

Aaaand we're back to food *facepalm*
Oh, the shit my BM says.
Convo between DH and BM after dinner this evening.
DH: SS told us you're going to send him oreos.
BM: He asked. So I said yes, then he started to cry saying you don't keep unhealthy food in the house so he can't have them. If I send a small pack, will you let him have them? It seemed so important to him and I hate to see him that sad.
DH: No, primarily because we won't let the girls have any (namely DD right now)and it wouldn't be fair.

Letting go (apologies for blog-hogging)
Another reason to start getting back into a routine with the practice of my faith (regular meditation/prayer, etc) is that I think this 'blended' family shit is starting to inspire HUGE control issues with me.
Seriously, the idea was to be Glenda the good witch, but if I don't FIND a way to make more time for balancing myself during the day I'm going to sprout long red glittery nails.
Also, I cannot have long red glittery nails at work, so we have a VERY REAL concern here.

My perfect-ish plan
So today I enrolled SS in a week of half-day soccer camp.
I did this knowing that when I tell him this afternoon he might bitch, because he wanted to do t-ball.
I TRIED to get him into t-ball, and even enrolled him in a weekend camp for t-ball, but it was cancelled due to lack of participation.
So I put him in soccer.

A ray of sunshine, I hope, for all of us
I know this isn't specifically with regard to blended families, but it's something to think about.

Some good news, and by good I mean OMGOMGOMG
Last night, my husband won the regional award for Advertiser of the Year, this is after only having worked at the agency in question for about a month and a half. The package they submitted was work he did during his first 2 weeks.
Today, he was offered a partnership with salary and full benefits.
The funny part? After pushing and pushing and pushing his boss thanked me personally for them winning this award. Why?

Crisis Averted, chill pill taken
SO
I was going to take the advice of another STalker. Everything is in the package. SS opens it. SS and DH chat about why he can't have the fruit snacks in the house infront of the girls, and they are put away until airport time.
But then, DH had opened the package, and found that BM had actually NOT included the brand they fought over, but a no-BS fruit strip, containing only fruit. No extra sugars, or colors, or extras.
