The acceptable childcare question

StepG's picture

many responded to my earlier post about my ss's BM allowing her boyfriends oldest daughter who is 14 to keep ss, her sisters 9 and 11 and ss little brother who is not even 18mths. many said they would not feel comfortable with that, or it was too much on a 14 years old, how much were they gonna pay her and how mature is she? Well no they are not going to pay her I think that is the only reason the girls are going to be there all summer(usually there only every other weekend and I wonder if their BM knows this)is to keep my ss and his little brother.

Is this acceptable summer child care?

we only get SS 3 weeks out of the summer plus regular visitation. His BM has him in a home daycare during school. Well this summer she is having her boyfriends' oldest girl who is 14 at best keeping ss7, her 2 sisters age 11 and 9 and keeping ss little brother who is almost 18mths. BM lives a good 15 miles from town in the country and BM and boyfriend work over 30 miles away. H said something to BM about he did not like the idea what if something happened to one of them. any thoughts on if this is acceptable or not?

Week on and Week off Schedule

StepG's picture

I have read in several post from yall that several have the week on week off schedule with the kids. We are trying for that with my ss. BM said it will only confuse him if it is that way and that it is way too much back and forth. SS is 7 will be 8 in Sept. currently we get one night a week and every other weekend. That means in a 2week period there is 6 back and forth trips as opposed to if we did get week at a time that would be one pick up from dad and one pick up from mom in a 2 week period. I would think she would see the good in this as it less she has to deal with us and vice versa.

ChildSupport and the State

StepG's picture

are there many of you that have to send the child support to the state? My H got letter from state saying he is now ordered to send his payment to state from here on out and anything given to BM after this point would be considered a gift. So our attorney calls the child support office to see why we now have to send to state and come to find out BM is getting some type of state aid and that is why. I am new to site and you may not know that we have filed a petition to modify the custody and child suppot.

Hello

StepG's picture

Hi - I have been accessing this site daily for about 1yr now maybe longer but never posted. I am a stepmom to a 7yr boy no bio kids. My H and I have been together for 5 years and married for 8mths. We have great relationship as do I with SS. Finally decided to post as we are about to go through some rough times(more so than normal) with BM as we are going back to court to seek custody modification to get week on and week off with SS. Currently we only have 1 night a week, every other weekend, and holidays etc are split. My SS is the one who will suffer the most due to his CRAZY BM.
