Dumb Updates To My Dumb Gripe

So. I had a Dumb Gripe Tuesday Night:

Updates. When I looked in the freezer, DH had actually bought BOTH the $7 pint of specialty ice cream AND the novelty item Nutty Buddy Superscoops. And not the small 4-pack. The big, expensive 8-pack.

YSD ate half of the pint while she was here and didn't even open the Nutty Buddies. I don't know why that infuriates me so much.

Just Dumb Gripes on a Tuesday Night

So, I'm sitting here alone...after having cleaned up the kitchen...alone. Because DH dropped everything to take princess YSD17 up to the store to get some ice cream. We actually HAVE most of a half gallon of ice cream in the freezer...but she has a craving for a specialty item.

Here's how it went down:

DH, YSD and I were all watching a show together. Well...DH and I were watching the show and YSD was staring at her phone and texting, then looking up every once in a while to ask us what she missed. So annoying.

Lease Signed for SS, Pretty Good Sunday

SS came over and signed the lease and the loan agreement with DH and FIL today.

Then we had a nice Sunday afternoon meal with SS, OSD and OSD's boyfriend. It looks like there are some quarterly checkpoints regarding grades in place with the loan agreement, and it seems like SS is taking it pretty seriously...so this could be a good launching pad for him.

Overall, a successful, not enraging skid visit. Hoping this kind of interaction continues...

Wish Me Luck...I Need to Stay Strong

So.

After successfully standing up for myself and getting DH to understand that we will make no formal commitment to help SS with his college expenses (again, I am not saying we won't ever go down there to visit and fill his fridge or send him a care package or $100 to help out...just that we aren't going to sign up for xxx number of dollars each month on the 5th...not adding "SS" to my list of monthly bills that I'm already covering 80% or more of)...

...Something else has come up where I'm probably going to have to take a stand.

Update on SS and College

So, once again, SS will be handed something rather than being asked to contribute or figure it out.

Well...OK. Not entirely.

DH hung out with a friend last night and it came up that this friend's parents have several furnished units in the town where SS has enrolled in the 2-year program. Very fortuitous. According to friend...they're not the newest or nicest places, but they're in a safe neighborhood about 7 miles from the school. Rent is $750 a month...so a good deal less than the 1K and up units DH was looking at last weekend.
