Playing Dumb
I recently decided that school work is one area where I will actively be engaged and help skids. Their mother is an idiot who can't keep up with 4th grade math (no joke, she can't even add in her head, forget fractions/algebra) and DH's idea of 'helping' involves lots of yelling, although he is working on that.
Anyway.

It begins...
OSD (will be 11 in a couple weeks) stole some of my nail polish. Why she felt the need to take it and hide it in their dresser, when I leave all of it under the sink in 'their' bathroom for anyone to use, I don't know. Why she needed to stake claim on seven bottles, I don't know. I made dh 'deal' with it. I am sure he will make her give me some forced half assed apology next time I have to see her. I don't want to hear it.

Mono?
OSD was 'diagnosed' (I will use that loosely, the Dr seems kind of iffy, just from what I've heard) with Epstein Barr Virus yesterday, which has caused 'mono'. Thing is, the Dr told BM that 'kids almost never get this', which seems REALLY wrong to me, since I remember quite a few kids in that late elementary school range missing weeks of school because of it. And not to mention the CDC website says its the most common viral infection, and most have had it by the time they're adults, kids being the most infected.

S**t BM says
Last month when skids were writing out Christmas cards to BM, one asked the other; "how do you spell BM First Name?"
They couldn't remember, so I asked why they needed to know, weren't they just going to write 'mommy' on the card? I asked, 'you don't call her by her first name, do you?'
Best. Response. Ever.
'We sometimes call her by her name, mommy likes it, she says because then she can pretend we aren't her daughters and it makes her feel younger.'
I was floored. But I didn't react, I just said, 'oh, that's nice...'
WTF??

Another stupid letter...
Please forgive me if this has been posted before. I looked around and haven't seen it here, at least not recently.

It's all the same
I have a friend, she was married before to a man with a daughter. Daughter was about 10 or so when they got married. My friend has a son, who was a little younger than the girl. We were having a few drinks the other evening, and talking about the whole fucked up step dynamic (it was that Godforsaken three day skid weekend). She told me the same stories I hear on here, almost verbatim.

Is there anything we can do?
DH has EOWE with the skids. In the CO, he is to drop skids off Sunday evening at 7:00. A month ago, BM sent him a text at about 6:45 (he was about to walk out the door) 'I'm not home, I'll let you know when I am and you can bring the girls'. Um, ok, stupid cunt. Whatever. TWO HOURS go by, nothing. He texted her once or twice like, um, hey, just wondering if you have an idea about what time you will be home, etc... No response. He finally called her at 930, 'oh, I was about to call you, yeah, I'm on my way home.' Ugh. DH and I have to get up at ass o'clock in the morning.

BS Father's Day, or, Let the PAS'ing begin!
Skids were to be dropped of by BM on Sunday, which worked out great for her, since she also had to work. In the afternoon, DH's phone rings, it's BM. The kids are on their way to the door, but she told him that she is going to wait in the car for the kids, as they are not staying, they just want to give him his gifts and then go with her to work. (she cleans offices, she's not like a dolphin trainer or anything cool) I'm like, ok, what in the ever loving fuck? They come to the door, very quietly.

DH birthday drama, just venting I guess
Yesterday was DH's birthday. He had to work, so on Sunday I grilled some awesome steaks, etc... But yesterday I still wanted to make/buy something good for him for dinner. He wanted chicken and potato salad, easy enough. I stopped by the store on the way home, picked that up, and some watermelon they had out on display. And a couple of these amazing mini fruit tarts.
