It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.

Long story short, we're working on it. I'm looking into chat solutions and their features.
It'll come down to $$$ and time. Since this is a relatively busy site we have to be careful what chat solution we use since the good ones cost money.

We plan on implementing "premium" accounts for a small monthly or yearly fee. Those accounts would have access to premium services, such as chat, etc.
Privacy features won't cost anyone anything though. Those features will become standard. We'll only be charging for services that will help us pay for the site as well as pay for the extra resources we'll need to implement those services (chat requires more resources than we currently have, etc.).
We don't want to alienate anyone who can't pay so basic services will remain free (including any privacy settings, etc.).
