Again with the last minute request! TWICE in 3 days!
I really think I will never get it through his head that BM doesn't give a shit we moved 30+ miles away and we can't just do whatever she wants/needs on her week just because she calls and tells SO she has no other option! Two days ago, she asked him to pick up both SDs and his exSS after school b/c her family that lives close by was out of town, she wouldn't be out of work and her bf had something going on and couldn't do it (and she kept telling him "You're my ONLY option"). SO called me to ask if I cared if he just went and got them and kept them overnight. I was honest and said, "Yes, I care. This is my first week back to work and I was looking forward to some peace & quiet and relaxing when I got home." So he checked to see if his mom could get them and then BM could pick them up from her house on her way home. Well, nope, Gma was going out of town. So he said he'd just go pick them up and take them to BM's. Um, you're going to drive 30+ minutes just to take them to BM's house?! Are you keen on wasting gas money? And with his class schedule, he now has an additional day of driving to that same area than what he's had in the past. So now that would make even one more trip that would crunch into the gas budget! Fortunately, SD13 sent him a text and said nevermind b/c exSS' girlfriend would just take them all home. Ok fine ... extra trip not needed now.
Today, he calls SDs to chat with them and BM gets on one of their phones ... I could tell from the way his voice changed, and the things he was saying, that she must have requested to speak to him. His tone of voice and sighing after he hung up also confirmed it was her. Apparently, even though they switch Mon-Mon (per court order!) during the school year, she decides to tell him TODAY she needs him to take them tomorrow (Sunday). And this was only when HE called THEM. She had said nothing else (at least that I'm aware of) prior to this or taken it upon herself to contact him before he called to see if he could take them tomorrow. I guess she offered to meet him halfway. So, again here he goes with just caving in and not explaining to her that we have ONE income until he's done with school ... not TWO like at her home ... and we HAVE to budget our money and these extra trips (even halfway) cut into our gas budget. And he agrees to meet her! Not even asking me ... and even though I would care they are here tomorrow night when I'm expecting them the next night, since I said no the other day, I probably would have said go ahead. Of course, I would have mentioned the gas budget! I'm upset he didn't confer with me since it is MY HOME TOO! And I'm upset he doesn't even care to remind her we have a limited gas budget and he's aleady going to class an additional day than what we were used to. And I wish he would have just said, "You need to give me more than a day's notice. And if it's going to be this last minute of you wanting me to take them early, then you are just going to have to bring them to me. I do not have the means to make those trips." But, nope, just say ok ... like usual!

FOLLOW THE COURT ORDER! You
FOLLOW THE COURT ORDER! You need to make him stop doing her favors because it will just bite him in the ass later. Follow the CO to a T!!! Our BM used to say "sure you can have SD on xyz date" but then she would take SD away again once she got pissed and SO ends up hurting. ONLY follow the SO that's what it's there for :/
That's what I have told him
That's what I have told him for several years now! To follow it. It's like he doesn't want to look at things from a logistical standpoint or even TRY to make BM realize we are a 1 income household compared to her 2 income household and can't just go gallavanting all over the place for pick ups not on SO's week! I am now looking at it like this: it is MY income that covers most of the gas costs ... I haven't minded helping SO out when he's got class since he moved further away so I can be closer to my job (but again, I am the ONLY income in the household) ... but since it is MY income, I think next time he says he needs gas or asks if I can help him out, I will TRY to stand firm and tell him no. I will explain he didn't take into consideration where his gas money came from and went ahead and planned a pick up when he wasn't supposed to get them and could have easily told her if she NEEDS him to take them a day early then SHE brings them to our house. I know he will get pissed and upset, but ... oh well!
