What a fun word...skids

Im so used to referring to the beasts as skids, i said it to my H. He didnt catch it, maybe he thought I was stuttering or something.

My son 22 thinks it's a funny word too but then he said wait mom am I a skid? Yes son you are H's skid.

Just wait til I refer to his x as BM!

Thanks to the steptalkers who got me through some of these crazy days we call holidays. I do see that others have it worse but I also sometimes see the future like Aniki's entitled SD22 is my SD16 in 6 years only she will live us most likely or at least have a key.

Why is skid living with you at 22?

No. No. No. 

Put the breaks on and set yourself up now. Have the conversation, set boundaries and put a plan in place now. You can stop this nonsense before it happens!

1. Adult children do not live at home. Unless...

A. Full time student. Still must have part time job, be respectful and contribute to the household.

B. Full time job. All of the above but time limit. Say 6 months to figure life out and save. 

C. Fell on hard times. Same as above. 

Do not wait until it happens. Get on the same page and ensure you are not stuck with a leeching skid forever!

I was referring to my son who is 22. He lives out of state.

The only adult who lives with us is SD19. She is at community college and works full time.

I have done this myself...I am used to calling SS Manbaby or MB for short. I accidently text the abbreviation MB to my DH responding to his text telling me about SS. He said whats MB stand for...I said I have no clue, must have been my darn phone Smile Thank god I didnt referr to the princess, her "nickname" is far worse Wink

I could say all of this stuff to DH and he wouldn't care.  We call BM far worse than BM.  And skid is just short for "stepkid", even if it does have some possible other interpretations. Smile

I've never had a mean nickname for SS19, because I don't hate him.  I don't love him or even like him, but I don't hate him.  That would be the only thing that would upset him, having a hateful name for SS.  We do call him Buster at times, ala Buster Bluth, the biggest Mama's Boy in the history of TV.

DH and I always refer to BioHo as 'wh0re'. He has no issue with me saying 'skids'.

I pretty much only think of my husbands daughter as SD now so it's hard not to call her that out loud. I've also caught myself doing the reverse and almost posting real names several times.

As far as living skid living with us past 18...DH has already brought up several times that he wants the kids to live with us while they go to college. No. No. No. Hes also asked how often he thinks we will be able to go see them when they move out....the oldest 2 are in second grade. So yeah the future doesnt bode well for when its aging out time

Hahahaha!!! I have done this too... talking to my girl friend the other day and I referred to my husband as “DH”, and she was like “what?!”. 

I have also said “skids” and I think he just heard it as “kids”.
