Finally Fed Up

So-I come home from work last night and DH is sitting on the couch nostrils flared-looking like a bull ready to stampede. Apparently Zippy16.5 FINALLY got under Daddykins skin.

Entitled Zippy has been anticipating a summer of sleeping until 2pm-enjoying a leisurely breakfast on the living room couch(yes-plate fork and knife ON the living room couch) for an hour-then heading downstairs to X/Box and Rock Band 24/7-

DH USED to say -"this is how kids socialize these days-video conferencing X/Box plays"

DH is beginning to see the error of his ways...

I just posted some of this in a response-but I just wanted to see what some of you think of this!! I kid you NOT:

Apparently Zippy16.5 is entitiled to a college education according to DH because DH's niece had some of her University paid for (kid was working and had top high school marks-paid for her books and cell phone) so Grandpa forked over a semester or two of tuition. Now she is a journalism graduate-working full time and paying for her second degree -NOW GET THIS -HERSELF!!! Did I mention she lives on her own-23 years old?

So-when cooler heads prevail-I sit down with DH to calmly discuss his "a$$wiping parenting technique" towards Zippy16.5, and how it feels like I am watching a train wreck in the making and totally powerless to stop it.

Part two to yesterday's post where "Crap Hits the Fan". DH comes home with flowers as a peace offering from Saturday nights explosion. Looking sheepish "Gee Honey-don't know what I did wrong?? (UGHHHH)

Part one of Indulging Daddykins Make Over was to explode (That kind of worked) but I as I started to calm down-I started to think of some rational responses to the seemingly unconscious pampering of the teen man/child-so stay tuned as I go through the week.

Crap Hits the Fan

Maybe I will feel better writing this -but I just don't get the weird dynamic between DH and SS Zippy16.5.

The adoration fest on DH's part starts early yesterday-Zippy has had dental surgery and is now a bit swollen and sore but highly on the mend. So much so he is going to a movie last night-HOWEVER..

DH and I get up early to do groceries (we are going to a BBQ later that night)-DH has another list of "soft foods" that we are to buy for Zippy16.5-fine-just why the big production in front of me-just write the friggin items on the grocery list.

Panicked phone call from DH

This morning after Zippy's X-box hootinanny last night.

DH-"ENDORA-ZIPPY16.5 JUST FAINTED IN MY ARMS IN THE KITCHEN"!!!

(me picturing some kind of "Gone With the Wind Scene"-nearly cracked up and spit my coffee into the phone)

Composed myself and said

Calmly: "DH are you taking him to emergency?" (with all the ambulances available-world move over Zippy is dying-figuring that would be DH usual response).

DH is all a'tizzy-unable to speak

I ask calmly "When did Zippy last eat?"

He's Alive!!!

DH called and Zippy16.5 made it through dental sugery. DH has Zippy happily ensconsed in the family room on the lazy boy, with blankies and pillow -TV remote in hand happily playing nursemaid to his "only baby" all afternoon-

DH made sure to buy all the foods etc. and will be at Zippy's beck and call until I get home to a list of things that need to be done for Zippy16.5 tonight.

Professional Counseling Platitudes

I was just reading lil_teapots blog on her counseling session, I have NO problems with profesional counseling, however if I go I will make darn sure my counselor is a stepparent!!!

I thought of some of the common platitudes thrown out to stepparents-here are some of my favourites:

Whatever age the children maybe there are a few things you need to bear in mind:

Recognize That in the Relationship with Your Step Child You Are the Adult

When You're Parenting, They're All Your Kids

"Tommorrow poor baby Zippy16.5 goes in to have 4 impacted molars removed under anesthetic (personally I would rather give birth to twins without an epidural than have 4 wisdom teeth removed at once)-

BM has raised her head again! Zippy's bio mom is back! DH had to drop Zippy off at his mothers this weekend BECAUSE BM's psycho boyfriend slashed her tires :?

DH comes back home and says "My goodness X Fruitloop looks like she is 70 years old (she is actually 56)and is walking with a cane (he has not seen her in two years)-anyway she starts telling him the latest drama (complete with violent drunken BF -cops and tire slashings) and he exits as fast as he can back to the house.
