Favorite time of the day...
9 am. Gibby and I just got back from our walk. Loghead is getting ready for work. Princess is still asleep.
Lazy Boye 16 and PITA 17 have LEFT FOR WORK AND WON'T BE BACK FOR ALMOST 12 HOURS.
Quiet. Peace. Calm.

Cup of Crazy in the Morning
Yesterday, Loca was here at 8 am, to pick up Lazy Boye 16 for a doctor appointment. Of course, he wasn't awake, so while he got ready, I had to sit with her in the living room and wait for him.
Princess 20 was smart and had locked her bedroom door so Loca couldn't get in and wake her up.

My new bestie? Loca!
I just spent 7 hours with Loca Grande. She was all buddy-buddy with me; Princess was so heavily medicated she was asleep most of the day. She actually bought us matching necklaces that say "Mom." "You've been such a good friend and good mom to the kids, I can never thank you enough for all you've done."
She wants to get together next week and have lunch.

Happy thoughts for Princess (and a silent prayer for me)
Princess had surgery on Monday. Many of you may recall she was in a horrific accident last June, in which she was pulled from her vehicle moments before it exploded. Her ankle was shattered in the accident, when the engine block came up through the steering colum and busted her ankle.
Well, the bones never healed properly, so the new doc fused the tibia and fibula together, and cleaned up the ankle joint the best he could. He said he'd never seen an ankle so bad in someone so young before. He said his patients in their 60s and 70s have better ankles than she does.

And my respite continues...
Just got a call from PITA 17. He and Lazy Boye 16 are headed back from their tournament a day early (oh, no!), BUT, they are passing through a little town about 25 minutes away from where Loca Grande lives, so she is going to meet them there and keep them for the weekend.
Two more days- NO SSs.

Gloating
Don't hate me because you want to BE me right now, but my house is clean and quiet!
The SSs are at their basketball tournament until Saturday.
Princess is away for the weekend with friends before her big surgery on Monday.
loghead is still at his construction site since some supplies came in late this afternoon and he can finish up a few things tomorrow now.

Mother of the Year Award= Loca Grande!
Loca Grande told Princess it wasn't worth $150 to rent the scooter she needs after her surgery next week...
Princess can't walk on her foot for at least 8 weeks after the surgery, and even though Loca promised all spring she would rent and pay for the knee scooter, here it is less than a week away, and Loca tells Princess it costs too much. Princess was all stressing, so I told her to call her mother back and tell her to forget it; i would take care of it.

Counting the hours... really frustrated right now- Good, Bad and Ugly update
In less than 12 hours, the SSs will be leaving for a 4 day basketball tournament in a town far, far away. I just got home from my part-time job, which paid for them to go to said tournament. They have spent the past 20 minutes yelling at me that they can't find their socks, their ball shorts, their this and that. I told them it was too bad, cause I was going to bed. I reminded them I told them last night if they needed anything washed for the trip, it needed to be in the laundry room by 9 am this morning. Neither boy left me clothes to wash, so I went about my daily chores...
Yup, I did it and it was awesome!
I took Gibby, BS 10, on a vacation. Without the skids. Just us, and my parents. And it was amazing!
Gibby had been saving money FOREVER to go to Legoland Discovery Center in Chicago. So for Christmas, Loghead and I told him we would pay the rest, and take him as soon as school got out. We all continued to save, because we knew the 6 hour train ride, and finding a hotel and all that "stuff" was expensive.

Can't wait to watch her eat those words...
Princess, SD 20, told us yesterday that she thinks we have been horrible parents for making all the kids do chores, and that it's a "woman's job" to take care of the house and her family. She thinks kids should only have to keep their rooms clean and pick up their school books and things, and small messes they make.
