Update and Status on Rag's Boarding/Military School Flunkie Skid
I have been in denial on this and avoiding updating the Stalker community on the status of my Son (SS-17).
The good news is that I have been able to prevent his Mother from killing him or causing him permanent disfigurement by skinning him alive or slow roasting him like a brisket on a Texas BBQ pit.
Good riddance to 2009.
Happy New Year and may 2010 be a prosperous and interesting year for all!

These we love the most break our hearts the deepest.
Well, the amazing Skid has managed to resurrect his historical lack of maturity and decisioning capability. During the TG holiday from school he managed to lie repeatedly about having turned in all of his assignments and stayed up all night playing World-of-Warcraft then being semi catatonic during usual waking hours.
When we got home Sunday we found his progress report waiting in the mailbox. It was horrendous to say the least.
So, what can I do to help him once again pull his head out of his ass? I can't do it for him but I can get him some help.
The SpermIdiot Clan Strikes Again
This evening my wife calls me upset because SpermDad and SpermGrandMa call ranting that the kid has Swine Flu .....
Which is absolutely not true. The Skid has Viral Syndrome with Flu Like Symptoms. There are a couple dozen kids in the school infirmary with the same stuff. Most have been tested for H1N1, none tested positive.

Married to the perfect woman.
My wife actually left ME speechless this evening........ and that rarely happens.
She was watching one of those Wonderful Wedding shows on one of the Chick Channels when she turned to me and said "You got of cheap on our wedding Rags!" (We eloped to Lake Tahoe). I commented in my snarky smart ass teasing sort of way that there was nothing cheap about my Wife and that I had spent orders of magnitude more on her during our 15yrs of marriage than the $25K my first I-Ls spent on my first wedding to the psycho frigid ice queen.

The SpermClan is not the only difficult Clan we have to deal with. What is it with natives of the Pacific NorthWest anyway?
No offense intended to Pac. NWerners but nearly everyone I interface with from up there is incapable of making a decent decision and many struggle with being decent people even to family members. The SpermClan and most of my I-L's have a tenuous grasp on decision making at best.
My wife is in to her third full day of a four day visit with her family.
The I-L drama:
I am Bachen it this weekend.
I am Bachen it this weekend. My lovely bride is on the West coast visiting her family and I am hanging with Max the obnoxious parrot for the weekend. Ahhhhhhhh! Relaxation at its finest. But...... get home soon Honey before I OD on deadliest catch re-runs. Things get a little boring without you here and you are far better conversationalist than Max.
Actually things have been busy this weekend. I took a friend and his daughter to Gettysburg yesterday. It was a fun day.
Today I am vegging with the crab guys and having meaningful conversations with the bird.

Happy Birthday Beautiful!
Today you are 34. A long way from the 18yo single teen mom college student you were when we met.
You have become this amazing, confident beautiful woman. I am proud to be your husband. Not that you were not amazing and confident when you were an 18yo single teen mom. Your confidence, work ethic and extreme focus were there all along. They are yours and yours alone. No one gave them to you, no one guided you, no one pressured you. Your accomplishments are your own. Your Undergrad, MBA, CPA ...... all you. No one else. Your accomplishments to claim, celebrate and enjoy.

Those nagging little things that mask really big unrelated issues.
So, my Lovely Bride and I had a great weekend. Filled with our usual combination of relaxing reading, hand holding, intense passion and some out of the house activities. We ran to the beach to check out the big waves from Bill's passing.
Then there was THE fight. My perspective: I use too much toilet paper, I am inconsiderate and do not drip dry in the shower before stepping out to get a towel which gets the bath mat wet, I do not clean up after anyone but myself, etc......
???????????? You think I am kidding right? Nope, I am not kidding at all.
Yet again .......... another estimate on the cost of these little and not so little resource consumers we choose to raise.
http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/CollegeAndFamily/RaiseKids/RaisingY...
This one was a little different. It referenced family interviews as part of the data set for the estimate of cost to raise a child.
It also discusses the distribution of the total costs of raising a child by age ranges and birth number and order.
Best regards,
