Well, after perpetrating statutory rape on a 16-year-old child (though you were never charged because the girl's father refused to press charges) when you were 22 and leaving her and your child for another 16-year-old child the young woman and child you threw away have turned out to be incredible people in spite of your idiocy.

B-I-L told us about some comments made by my SIL that have me seeing red!
I flew my B-I-L out to spend a week with my wife so that they would get a chance to spend some time together before he leaves for Iraq. I did the same three years ago prior to his deployment to Afghanistan.
An interesting conversation came up regarding my S-I-L and some comments she repeatedly has made about my wife and I.
This is the first time my SS (16) has given gifts to his mom and/I without one of us prompting him.
Usually I have to throw out a "Do you have a gift for your Mom yet?"
He did it all on his own this year and surprised us both.
Hmmmmmmm! Who is this kid and what has that school done with my Son?

Sad call from one of my employees.
My cell phone went crazy this morning at ~1AM. It was one of my employees. He was bouncing off of the walls and called to tell me that he would not be at work today because he had to deal with some personal business.

More Tears of Pide and Joy
My son (SS) left to return to boarding school on Sunday. He was home for 8 days over Thanksgiving and we had a great time.
Before he left we discussed his academic performance which is currently significantly improved over his performance the first two years of high school. He has been struggling with his advanced Alg class. He started after the first few weeks of this semester with a low F. We helped him set up plan to get extra help and to prioritize how he does his work so that he could work on getting his grade in Alg up.

Got in a little hot water with the Bride this evening.
My SS calls Tuesday and informs us that his last final exam is on Wed after next and he would like for us to rebook his flight to fly home on Thus rather than Fri from boarding school. The posted finals schedule is clear that the kids can leave after their last final and that Thus is make up day for any missed finals or rescheduled tests.
The Kid is home from Military School for Thxgiving.
And he is awesome! He is two inches taller (because he now stands up strait, tall and proud) and has lost ~35lbs. He has been in ZERO trouble so far and his leaders and instructors all speak very highly of him and his performance. His grades are a little better than they were last year but that is a significant accomplishment since he is now in a very rigorous college prep program .

OK, this post is from an "Idiot Man" who is nothing more than an "animal that is ready to lay down and die".
Or something like that. The title sentence is an amalgam of a couple of comments made in recent threads.
I would like to point out that there are a whole heck of a lot more stories about whack job BMs and SMs than BFs and SFs. If volume of issues is any indicator, us males are down right geniuses.
Ok, now that I have taken this one giant step for man, I will crawl back in to my idiot guy hole and keep my head down for a while as I am sure I have now convinced everyone that I am an idiot because I chose to open my big mouth.
A good friend's daughter is getting in to a blended family situation.
The set up for this may be a bit convoluted so please bear with me.
A good friend of mine has a 24yo daughter who is in a developing relationship with a young man (her age +/-) who has two children by a previous marriage. This man signed whatever papers his Ex put in front of him and committed himself to extremely high CS and alimony payments to his XW. My friends daughter drug him to an attorney in order to get professional advice on how to address the extremely high CS and alimony burden.
