What's This About????!!!!!

How about my fiance and I have been together for two years and two months. I met his kids after we'd been dating for about three months. During all this time, our relationship has progressed wonderfully. Every other weekend, holidays and all summer, his kids are here...in OUR home...with US...I even watch them when he's at work sometimes. MY family buys them Christmas. MY dad takes them fishing...but I digress. Here's the real kicker. The BM has NEVER met me. When I show up with my fiance to do exchanges, she won't get out of the car. She won't even look me in the eyes!

Move Closer To Skids?

Fiance has informed me that he would like for us to move to the same city as his BK's(EX has physical custody). Although this is a very large metro area, I am hesitant to accept such a situation for many obvious reasons as well as some that are not so obvious.

I am employed by a Company that transfers employees according to what the needs of the company are presently. Many times, refusal to transfer means demotion. I would like to wait and see what my next assignment might be instead of giving it all up right away.

Spring Break

So, I've waited all year for this!!! The BKids are on Spring Break and I've taken a vacation from work so that we can all spend some quality time together. My fiance and I even made plans for some much-needed "grown-up" time. Plans for the beach and amusement parks and aquariums promise to help me re-gain some sanity and power up for the coming Summer break with the SKIDS when guess what????!!!! The EX calls and guess who else is out of school this week? Yes, none other than the dear old SKIDS.

I would like to hear how holiday gift-giving

works in other families. Do skids get presents from paternal and maternal grands as well as from stepgrands? Are skids and bios given the same number of presents with the same cost allowance. Do skids celebrate at home and at stepparents? I'm curious to know haw everyone else does Christmas, birthdays, Easter, etc.

Beginning to dread every other weekend...

and holidays. Is it just me or does anyone else enter almost a state of depression when its skid-sharing time. The holidays and summers are the worst. I have developed a little trick that has saved my sanity thus far...I simply go on with life as if they weren't even there. If this sounds horrible, too bad because its helped tremendously. I don't prepare special meals, we don't go out to eat, PS3 only on weekends, bedtime stays the same as school nights, no more special trips to the zoo or amusement parks. Life as usual.
