Recieved attorney letter on Mother's day for SD 18 postsecondary
Hi Everyone,
Sorry I've been away for awhile. I was dealing with a health issue but I'm fine now. SD18 graduates in a week and DH and I were happy and excited to have some extra income now that CS is stopping.
OT: Auto accident insurance scam artist
So far the 3 SD's are out of my house and driving their mom crazy instead of me. Yay! One of them managed to get caught on Maui when it was on fire. She made sure to take a selfie with the "strange red glow in the sky." LOL. Later she found out it was a forest fire and lucky for her, was able to get home with all her luggage.

Karma rears its head for a rude mediation lawyer
Sorry I have been absent here lately. With SD's out of the house, its been relatively calm.
I wanted to share a great karma experience that my DH had recently. He works in HVAC heating and cooling and went out on a customer call. A man answered the door and looked VERY familiar to DH.

The pride of owning a home
I just have to mention here that I find it very funny that these stepkids assume that all good things in their lives either
a. rain down from heaven
b. are the work of Mommy and Daddee dearest
c. are somehow the result of them getting rewarded by the universe for doing absolutely nothing.
When in actuality, stepmoms often work very hard behind the scenes to make sure they are provided for, have everything they need, wear the right shoes, pack the right snacks, etc etc.

DH looking at old videos of stepkids and I burst out crying.
Last night my DH was lying in bed beside me, and I hear him watching this old video he took on his phone, of when the stepdaughters were school age 7 and 9 years old, I think. I've seen the video before, but I hate it because I sound so tired and annoyed in it. The kids are filling up the play pool in the back yard with the hose, and laughing and giggling, and they yell at me "Can you turn off the hose?! " They didn't have shoes on and said there were rocks on the concrete pathway that would hurt their feet, so they couldn't do it.
SD is giving up on life
So, my SD19 has been living at her BMs house and not visiting us since the Thanksgiving yelling match. She still doesn't have a drivers license or a job. Last night she opened up a bit to DH, which is rare. She demanded to be taken off speaker phone becuase she didn't want me to hear. He took her off speaker, but DH keeps his phone volume up so loud I can hear the other person across the room. LOL. Besides, he was going to tell me anyway, because I am his wife. DuH.

Thankful for our excellent Moderators
I just want to say I am extra thankful for our excellent moderators. I was briefly on another site that is supposed to be a safe place for stepmom support. It wasn't. Some chick named "Anonymous" commented on my comment in a very attacking, negative way. She sounded like a HCBM, too. She was saying that we have to show "respect" to our stepkids, which means we can't discipline them at all, lest we hurt their feelings.

Rough week - O/T , estranged mom has dementia
Last week was rough. I am finally feeling less tired from being sick. I had the energy to go out and work in the garden, which was really great. However, I keep getting texts and calls from my dad, who is 80. My sister got a call from my mother's doctor ( in another state) saying she may have heart failure but she definitely has dementia. He told my sister she needs to be monitored.

O/T possible heart attack
Hi S-talkers,
I have been a bit quiet lately due to some health concerns. I had a crappy experience with a new doctor that I wanted to share. I am a 48 year old ( almost 49!) woman. My dad and I both have heart arrythmias and beart murmurs. I have a sister who passed away when she was 6 years old. She was born with a heart condition - a misformed valve in her heart, and she also had arrythmias. Heart disease is a factor in my family history, so I am very aware of it.

SD19 Freaked out on plane
BM and her new BF decided to take all three SD's (17, 19, and 21) on vacation to Hawaii. SD19 has been a virtual shut-in for a year now - never leaving the house and rarely leaving her room. She is always on her computer, alone.
Well, surprise surprise.... SD19 called DH hyperventilating, crying, and freaking out from the airplane. She has developed a new phobia - flying. DH calls the airline, convinces them to put him through to the flight attendants midflight (don't ask what kind of white lie he told to convince them to be helpful) and talks SD off the ledge.
