Sad news

TheAccidentalSM's picture

Earlier this week we had some really sad news.  YSS had been doing really well recently but on Tuesday when DH could get him on the phone he called the police and asked them to do a welfare check. Unfortunately they found that he had died.  He was in bed so we think that he had an epileptic seizure.

DH is devastated. I’m really sad too.

YSS and I couldn’t live together but I still loved him.

- he cold sell ice to eskimos

- he was kind to the unfortunate

- he loved his dad

He was 22

Update - dull because all is good

Things have been on a fairly even keel so I haven't been posting or venting.  I've realised how much less tired I feel when I'm not stressed all the time.  Work has been manic but work stress doesn't come close to home stress. So all is good plus have a late season get away for a week skiing with DH in a week or two.*biggrin*

Podcast interviews with two guys who wrote a book about being PASed

I found this interesting. Even though the dad abused them they were still PASed by him. Warning- the interviewer and the guys have Irish accents. I don't think they are that strong

Update - YSS so unwell

TheAccidentalSM's picture

In my last blog, I explained that last weekend DH had to rush around to YSS apartment. We were worried that he was going to harm himself. DH spent two days cleaning YSS's room. He tells me it was like something out of the TV show Hoarders. YSS was asleep through most of the process.

YSS is so unwell

YSS is so unwell.

DH's brother just called to say that his daughter was really worried by some of the posts YSS was putting on FB. I haven't seen the details but they are full of suicidal ideation. He's also been sending DH weird texts.

He's coming down off the epilepsy medication but as the drugs are wearing off he is becoming more despondent. (He is one of the less than 4% who experience extreme side effects)

Bullet dodged

I have dodged a major bullet.

YSS20 has epilepsy. He's living with roommates after he drove me insane. His doctors are adjusting his meds because he is still having grand mal seizures regularly.

DH told me that YSS is really suffering from the effects of the drugs. I stupidly said I'd be ok with him coming back to stay with us for a few weeks until he felt better.

DH did make the offer but YSS said no. He prefers to be in his own space.

I'd have him back since he's sick but I'm still very relieved that he's said no. I think DH may be too.

Why bios don't hear what we hear.

Today I finally explained to DH that he doesn't hear what I do from YSS19.

You know the way that parents of small fretting kids don't hear their whining in the same way non parents do? Yes, well that doesn't change as the kid gets older. Bios have a filter that non bios don't.

I hear cursing. He filters.

Do any of you agree?

It certainly made DH stop and think.
