Denied!

Life insurance on Chef has been denied due to his boozing.  He's been on a health kick (AFTER the med test and seeing the atrocious numbers).

Vote for next move:

1.  He'll think "F it" and go back to boozing

2.  He'll think "I'd better stay on the straight and narrow due to this wake up call."

I TOLD him to get a policy w/o a med test but he wouldn't listen to my advice as usual.  He has a preconceived notion that life insurance without medical tests will not pay out after death if they figure out you had something all along.

The Expectations (Spin Off on the Implecation)

So my presentation to the town board (which I attended this time; Chef did not but he did cook dinner--and made a mess) partially over turned the planning boards "nay."  They tabled it and said they were very impressed by it and my applicant screening methods.

Fast forward to this morning.   As usual Chef trots out to the rehab, forgets to wheel out the trash toter (I do it as it affects me).  I then get into my heavy sweatshirt and long pants plus gear to weed whack with my commercial grade echo SRM-225 straight shaft string trimmer.

O/T The Implication (Just a Rant)

Background info:  I'm a 62.5 yr old female with a bad shoulder after two surgeries from an MVA.  I also had stage I breast cancer last spring and received radiation treatment in the late summer/early autumn after surgery in June (back to back surgeries with shoulder surgery).  Chef is 8 yrs younger.  He just turned 55.

Updates on Those Who Have Exited StepHELL

I know some have stayed on this forum past SH and commented, which is a great morale booster to those who are making the right choice to exit themselves.

I know others lurk from time to time.   It would be nice to get updates from some former posters.  I would love to learn, for example, how Simpleton made out post shiftless guilty daddy.

If any of you escapees would like to join in and update, that would be marvelous!

I Updated My Will!

And went full Joan Crawford!  Chef can remain in the house as long as he pays the bills and DOESN'T house any of the grown ferals nor any of their would be spawn.  The ferals are specifically named and get nothing.  I mentioned the reason that they have self estranged for many years.

Semi O/T Chef's Life Insurance Health Tests

Are in..  His liver enzymes are off the chart.  The high range number was 54.  His was 76.  At first he tried to wave it off (aka poo poo it).  His blood sugar was a bit on the high side as well.  But I think it scared him.   He's now drinking tea instead of knocking back hard liquor drink after drink nightly.  He's requesting healthy foods for dinner too.

I doubt this phase will last.   He goes just as long as he thinks he's out of the woods and then resumes his old bad habits again.   High functioning alcoholic with the all or nothing type personality.

Probably won't be able to get Life Insurance

On Chef.  He has high BP and is taking meds for it (shockingly) after several drs told him he is gonna stroke out.  He also has an incredibly short fuse and is generally a negative person although he seems to go from deleriously happy to mercurial in zero seconds.

He was brutally honest with the medical interviewer who came over on how much he drinks.   She immediately followed the information with: "has a doctor or anyone else asked you to stop drinking alcohol?"

Life Insurance

As a spin off to Esmod's estate planning post, as We get older we realize we are not immortal.  We recently had a neighbor down the street, a very nice and helpful man, diagnosed with esophageal cancer, which is usually a death sentence.  One of my county co workers died of it a few years back with virtually no symptoms.

And also Chef had a recent brush that could have been bad.  A garbage truck completely smashed his parked van but he was not in it.

So we finally got around to getting a term life policy on Chef.
