OT - Tone-up Tuesday

Are you a runner? Do you enjoy being outside, your feet pounding the pavement? Or chasing a deer or rabbit along a trail in the forest? I will never understand the people who prefer running machines over the great outdoors. I miss my running days! I wasn’t much for running on a track – I preferred getting out in nature, fields, woods, along the beach. Nothing but the sound of birds, my heart pounding, my breathing, crashing waves, and the occasional sound of a startled deer or bobcat (he looked ticked!!)

OT - Misanthropic Monday

Ever wake up and every little thing irritates you? That's me today. I had a crap night, tossed and turn for most of it, got about 2.5 hours of sleep and am crabby as phuq. If the right person crossed my path at the wrong time, I could easily blow my top. And that person comes in in another hour... Deep-breathing, stress balls, and coffee are not doing a damn thing. I am actually avoiding looking at people to avoid conversation. The office busybody has already been in my personal space, chattering about nonsensical shite until I played the Bathroom Card. I'm about to put on my headsets.

We’ve all had the misfortune of toxic people in our lives. They can appear in the form of coworkers, friends, and family members. You need to either eliminate these people from your life or learn how to deal with them effectively.

Toxic people are not caring, supportive, or interested in what’s important or best for you. Here are several ways that toxic behavior can manifest:

Happy Tuesday, STalkers! How goes it?

What do you do when you're craving sugar? Do you give in to your craving or do you have a satisfying substitute?

I am a chronic insomniac and caffeine does nothing for me when I’m tired, so I’ve developed a bad habit of using sugar to give me boosts of energy. It’s a habit I need to break, so I need some substitutes.

Prunes
Prunes have a bad rep. They’re dried plums and naturally sweet. (Much tastier AND moister than raisins, IMO!). A serving of six is just 100 calories.

I think SD22 just met Karma...

SD22 is an extended version of BioHo (her mother): arrogant, narcissistic, smarmy know-it-all (who happens to be a sex goddess!). SD22 knows it all so well, that she and her half-sister, SD25, frequently get into screamfests and don't speak for months at a time.

SD22 just found out she does NOT know it all. She failed the test for her job.

"It's so unfair!!! That test is harder than the tests I took in school!!! They should make it EASIER!!!"

OT - Forn Friday

Summer is a time of year when there are a lot of outdoor gatherings, barbecues, and picnics. With the soaring temperatures, I prefer lighter foods over the heavy, filling comfort foods of Fall and Winter (chili, stew, homemade rolls, etc....). You never know when you're going to get a last minute invitation to an impromptu picnic (Heikki caught a TON of fish so we're having a party!). Here is a recipe that is ready to eat as soon as you make it. (Yes, I did post this on Tone-up Tuesday.)

Are you rocking Summer with a cool pair of sunglasses? If not, you should be!

Protecting the eyes from the sun is just as important as protecting the skin. Most people are aware of the dangers of exposing the skin to too much sunlight, and many of us make an effort to slather on some sunscreen to protect our skin from wrinkles, premature aging, and skin cancer.

Happy Tuesday, STalkers! How are you doing with your health/exercise plan? Craving some sugar? Read on!!

We need sugar to survive, both physically and emotionally (where's my Mint Mackinaw Island Fudge?!). You can have too much of a good thing (ugh, I ate it ALL), but do NOT cut out ALL fruits when trying to limit your sugar intake. Fruits contain important nutrients like vitamin C, fiber, and antioxicants. Bonus: Increasing your intake of fruits and veggies has been shown to reduce your cancer and mortality risk.
