O/T - on line prom gowns shopping
Has anyone had any luck with on-line prom gowns? It seems there are a lot of sites that offer very discounted prices but I am hesitant to trust. Any specific ones to stay away from?

Our Blended Family is at least half sucessful
Sometimes your kids do or say something that makes you sit back and reflect. This weekend was one of those. My DS18 came home from a few days away and came out to the back yard where DH and I and a few other of our couple friends were having drinks and a fire. He came directly in, gave me a hug and sat down to tell us quickly about his weekend.

Eating Disorders - Anyone with experience?
We are concerned that SD16 is heading toward or has an eating disorder. I'm not at all surprised as she has been in need of counseling for many years. I understand that it's more about the emotional needs than the food issues that really drive it. What I am looking for is some first hand experience on how to handle the discussions that are necessary. Not that I talk to her at all because she prefers to pretend I don't exist but I would like to be able to help DH navigate this subject a little.

Need honest opinions - who's responsible for car damage?
So need the opinions of the masses.....
First the background.
Odd behavior - what motivates it?
So help me figure this behavior out. I'm not sure why but SD16's newest thing is when she eats at our house she only uses paper plates and cups. She'll use a plastic cup for cereal instead of getting a bowl out of the cupboard. I have no idea why. What's the motivation for this? anyone got any ideas?
Does she think the dishes are mine, therefore untouchable? possibly, they are special to me, collectable pottery. However we all use them on a daily basis and I've never made a point of protecting them

O/T - Supporting DH
I'm feeling bad because I just can't support DH in a decision he wants to make.
Background: We have 3 teenagers who are all very busy in sports, both have demanding jobs and are doing a whole house renovation project. He has been held back from promotions/job opportunities in the past as he has an associate degree in a job that typically requires a bachelor's.

O/T (kind of) - Parent's Night Events
Our School routinely does a parent's night for each sport season. Nothing too special just an introduction of the athlete and parents. They announce each as they walk across the field/gym. Seniors present their mother with a flower.

Father's Day - is this selfish?
SD16 plays a travel sport that involves about 5 weekends of travel tournaments. DH and I are attending 4 of the 5 (the other one SD will be also missing as she is going on vacation). We choose to only attend the Friday/Saturday portion of this coming weekend so that we could be home on Sunday to celebrate Father's day with extended family. BM says SD is hurt that DH won't be there to spend Father's day with her.
I'm feeling like it doesn't matter either way. My opinion has been based on these things:

Bellybutton Peircing for teenagers?
So I am looking for opinions on if you would let your teenage daughter get a bellybutton peircing? and what is your rationale is behind that opinion? And what do you think the driving need is for a teenager to want it?
SD16 is asking DH if he would allow it. He is delaying the answer. I 'think' because he wants to just say yes but knows that it might be looked on as bad parenting. So we have been discussing it a bit.

O/T - Social Media
My previous post made me think about how social media is affecting our kids. Remember when we grew up and had a petty argument with another girl in school, or was mad at a friend? what happened? you went home, wrote in your diary, called another (1) friend, maybe 2 to hash it out. Got over it and moved on, probably to continue being friends with said person. Today.....before you even leave school you post 100 entries on FB and Twitter and Snapchat and whatever other crazy tools are the rave this week. you text 400 of your closest 'friends' how horrible this or that is/was.
