Whew...I made it.
Well folks, I just made it through THE FIRST EVER SICKNESS THAT SD HAS HAD WITH US. And it was terrible, let me tell you. The poor kid had a fever for four days and was spouting from both ends, not to mention the terrible whining and waking up multiple times/night. I had to leave work early on both Monday and Tuesday to watch her for a bit, which I didn't mind, but boy am I glad she'd better now. I know the child couldn't help being sick, but that was a new experience for me...it made me rethink having kids of my own, lol.

Court yesterday
Well, SO had court yesterday for custody of SD7. Not much really came of it, the judge just told him that he's on the right track and that it sounds like he does need to have full custody of SD and gave him some info for free legal help. Court got continued til 12/12/11 to give BM more time to be informed. The problem with trying to get documents to BM is that she refuses to give us her address...not that I think she'd bother to show up to court anyway, considering she lives 8 hours away. Everything takes longer than expected.

SD said...
"I have two moms (me, BM), but StarStuff is my favorite." Sweet but sad. Hopefully one day BM will wake up and realize what she's losing/lost.

BM called...she misses her Xbox
For some strange reason, bm has it in her head that we have her xbox. We don't. We don't even like stuff like that. She called yesterday under the guise of talking to SD, which lasted for maybe three minutes. BM then spent at least 10mins on the phone with SO trying to convince him to give said xbox back to her because she, and get this, "wakes up every morning crying because she misses her xbox." Not her daughter. Her xbox. WTF.

SD pops my personal space bubble....DAILY.
Ok, so one thing about SD7 that has been bothering me is her seeming inability to respect people's personal space bubbles. This is always a problem, but was especially getting on my nerves this weekend. SO and I have told her repeatedly to get out of other people's faces, not to be climbing all over other people (us, guests), etc. We've tried nicely explaining to her why this is unacceptable, and when that has failed she's been yelled at and spanked (by SO - I try to remain punishment neutral). And yet. It's like nothing has gotten through to her.

Epitome of Evil BM...

Terrible. I can't fathom how evil some people truly are.

Feeling blah
SD7 has been bugging the crap outta me lately. The past few days I haven't wanted to see her and have a strong urge to shove her away when she touches me. She's really not a bad kid...just usual kid stuff (believe me, SO has no qualms about disciplining her). What I realized though is that all the things that have been bugging me, like her asking questions constantly, informing me that she looks kinda like me, wanting me to stop what I'm doing to look at something she's doing, even interrupting adult conversations (pet peeve!)are mostly done because she wants to hang out with me.

Got SD out of Protective Custody. Way to go BM..you're a real winner.
A lot has happened since my last blog post. SO and I have had SD7 all summer, and we thought that we were going to have her for the school year too since we really didn't know where BM was (and no one else seemed to know either - BM's own mother thinks BM is a drug addict. Bingo!).
SD's recent opinion of BM
So last night SD7 told SO "Yeah, my mom's a bitch" in a totally nonchalant manner. And mind you this is a kid who is not unruly or habitually uses curse words. SD7 even told me a couple of weeks ago that "I've heard bad words a million times, even from my mom, but I NEVER say them." Mind you, SO and I do not speak badly of BM in front of SD other than to explain that BM is not in a good place right now or to explain that SO and BM just don't get along very well. SO told SD that it's ok for SD to love her mom even if he doesn't.

Good day / BM venting
I've realized that since SO works mostly on the weekends (leaving me on SD duty) that I am completely drained and feeling pretty frustrated by Sunday evening. Sunday evening and MonDAY are the times when I feel most down and generally "blah" about this whole SM thing. However, I do feel like I have it pretty good for my situation. SO is supportive of me, backs me up, and refuses to let BM have my phone number or interact with me (doesn't really matter at the moment since we have no idea where she is now anyway...drugs and skeezy short-term boyfriends).
