My vent for the day

Sorry to blog hog but here is my vent for the day.

Lady at Church assumed I was SD's BM. She said "Go to Mommy!!" SD got confused and looked around for BM. I said, "She means me, SD, come here Hon." SD rushed over to me. The lady asked why I wasn't "Mommy". I said "Oh, she's my stepdaughter. She was looking for her biomom." Lady asked the stupidest thing ever... You guessed it...
"Where's her real mom?"

I took a deep breath and said calmly, "I said stepdaughter, not imaginary-daughter. Her BIOLOGICAL mother is in NearbyCity."

Okay, I give up BM, what are you?

BM has had SD in state-funded daycare since she was 6 months old.
BM has worked a grand total of 4 months since SD was born, all part time.
She went to school for 6 months as well.

So, she's not a working mom, or a stay at home mom, or a student mom.

For a full year, she wasn't in school or employed, yet SD was in daycare.
She's still in daycare Monday-Friday! (Though I'd rather the daycare people take care of her instead of Miss Psycho)

Okay, he was right, that was fun.

BM scowled the entire time she was here. GBM and I chatted about the kids, BM, DH, child support being cancelled, the new house that they are hoping to get, GBM's new job, BM going back on state assistance, and my house. GBM came up stairs and took a look at the girls' rooms. She thought BD1's (which is obviously more finished since she lives here) was adorable (Pink and white all around, even a pink and white doll house I got at a garage sale). SD's room is green and yellow and GBM thought it was "precious" and that SD would love it.

Happy Mother's Day to Me! (AWESOME NEWS)

The state caught up to BM. *dances around living room*
BM has been collecting child support despite that she doesn't have guardianship of SD. GBM doesn't have the money to file for Child Support and even if she did, it would mean BM would have to pay 1/2 and God forbid BM have to pay for anything. The state caught up with BM several weeks back and halted her child support. Several hours of paperwork later, I went out to get the weekend mail today and...
We no longer owe any child support or arrears!

You know, every once in a while, I doubt myself as a mother.

then the universe has me look at BM, SIL, and DH's BM. I feel much better then.

Example, last Saturday:
I:
Felt bad that DH and I lost track of time at a church function and were a half hour late getting home (my mother was babysitting BD1). BD was in bed by 10 (Bedtime is 8 o'clock) and was up on her own at her normal time the next day and took a slightly longer than normal nap. I made sure that the house was quiet during naptime so she could rest.

My Moral Dilemma

I'm starting this out saying one thing: I am a devout Christian. That doesn't make me better than anyone, it means that I admit I've messed up more often than not in my life and need forgiveness. So please don't hold the mistakes of others against me and tell me how "bad" it is that I am Christian.
