Oh yes, BM. I'll gladly rearrange my whole life to accommodate SS17

I'll make this quick. Just an amusing little annoyance. It always amazes me how much BM is willing to take without even blinking...while considering it her due, really. Seriously...she's always, always, always asking for more from us. To the extent that it's comical and, if DH and I ever ask each other for any kind of really huge, inconvenient "favor" or any big chunk of money for something we want, we refer to it as "pulling a (BM's First Name)" As in, "Hey babe. I don't mean to 'pull a (BM's First Name), but is there any way you could __________________."

Birthdays, Finances, and Skids. Rant.

Financial discussions are the worst with skids. Doesn't matter how nicely I phrase it...I always feel like I'm being stingy, even when I'm not. I also feel, as a SM, that the minute I feel inclined to give anything at all (money, time, etc.) DH, BM, and skids just hop all over it and expand what I'm willing to do. Give an inch take a mile scenario. I don't think they do it intentionally...I think they're just looking out for their kids. But sometimes it just feels like a feeding frenzy to me and I'm the chum(p).

Deep Breaths...

Skids come for TEN days starting tomorrow. I can't fathom why we get them for both weekends on either side of a holiday???

This also means that we get them for our regular weekend the following week...meaning three weekends in a row with skids for me. Please help!!!

NCP Spring Break?

Hey. Quick question for the NCP stepmoms.

Do you get the skids for Spring Break every year? I'm in year 6 of marriage, and we've had them for 10 days EVERY Spring Break...hell or high water. I just found out that Spring Break this year coincides with a major event that I'm planning for our business...like, a 250-300 person premiere event. My DH scheduled the event...and he does the visitation schedule every year. But I know if I bring it up, he's going to think I'm being unreasonable and ridiculous.

Tax Question For Other NCPs

I see many NCPs on here talking about some kind of form that the BM can sign to allow you to claim a kid.

I have 3 teenage skids. We pay a little over 10K a year in child support, plus we provide cell phones at an additional $120 or so a month...and skids each get a car from their grandparents at 16 and one year of insurance, maintenance, and taxes from us. BM is also always asking for money to help with "extras" -- I keep fairly good track of where our money goes each month / year...and the spending on skids is significant.
