Last night while I'm making dinner Harry comes in and says he just got off the phone with BM and she said that they could either stay the weekend with us (WHAT?!!!!!) or go to their Mom's. If they stay the weekend with us they would go to their mom's next weekend in a trade. If they go this weekend to their mom's they will get to go to her bout (she's a Derby Girl) and maybe out on the boat. He asked me what I think.
This past October, BM's husband passed away from a "seizure" (everyone pretty much knows it was a drug overdose/drug related...but we'll let that lie go for now). So she strikes a deal with my FH: if FH will allow her to change SD's last name to BM's (now dead) husband's last name, then FH can stop paying child-support forever. The reason for this being, if SD has BM's husband's name and BM files him as the main care-provider then the state will pay BM every month as if SD was his child.
I've seen a lot of blogs lately about cutting S-kids hair. We had the same problem with SD. Her hair is very fine and very straight and has absolutely no body. Well, DH got tired of dealing with the knots and stringy-ness of SD's hair and had it cut several inches to just above her shoulders. It's very cute and it has some bounce now. So, the Wookie will be here around 3:30 today to pick up the S-kids, and I am anxiously awaiting her reaction. I'll let you know. It will probably be nothing more than a nasty e-mail later. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Today begins week 4 -- the final -- of SD8's month with us. I had envisioned this month being COMPLETELY different than it has turned out. My husband & I naively thought that we'd have a month with SD8 to enjoy our time with her, take her on weekend trips, play games, etc. A month without SD8 acting like a mini BM because she'd be away from her. We could work on her manners, rudeness, hygiene, etc.
Ok...so I tried to come up with a list of 10 things I like about my SS. I quickly shortened it down to 5 things, because I came up with 1 thing...

I feel terrible, I mean how can I not like at least 5 things about a child who has been in my life for 5 years? I can easily come up with 10 things I do not like
I am in a real pickle here and need some sound advice from any of you who may have experience this issue. DH wants to take BM to a mediator and discuss why he wants the SK's on a more even basis. Currently the SK's come over EOW and for three hours one day per week. During the summer, we get them every other week. They have expressed, strongly, that they want to switch week on and week off with mom and dad. BM tells the kids that if they do this, they can just stay over at dads (although she guilts them into thinking they don't love her if they choose this option).
Ok guys - this is really off topic. But I had something happen today that has freaked me out a little bit but I'm also wondering if I'm just overreacting. Here goes.
I live in an apartment complex. 3 Floors in each building. 4 Apartments on each floor. I live on the top floor #12. You have to get buzzed into our communal hallway and then we each have our own (locking) doors.
Stepdaughter called back and said "I wouldn't be caught dead being seen with a big boobed bubble head like you.." How can I not feel hurt from something like that?? I've always tried to be nice to her and include her in everything.
